XT5 Air Suspension Failure Causing Vehicle Lean

Last service was at 39000 KM and now showing 41543 KM on the odometer. The symptoms got worse with the recent temperature changes. The air suspension started making hissing sounds near the right wheel well about 2 weeks ago. The car leans within 30 minutes of parking. No obvious physical damage to the air struts that I can see. Warning lights appeared right after the hissing started. When checking underneath I noticed some moisture around one of the air suspension lines which might indicate a leak. The ride height continues dropping even after the compressor runs. Would that suggest a larger issue with multiple suspension components rather than just a cable connection? The dealership is quoting 890€ for diagnostics and potential compressor replacement.

Thanks for providing those details. Based on the hissing sounds and moisture you described, your issue seems more severe than the cable connection problem I encountered with my XT4. The symptoms strongly suggest multiple air leaks in the suspension system, likely around the air struts and suspension lines you mentioned. When the load leveling system cant maintain proper height despite the compressor running, its typically due to air escaping faster than it can be replaced. In my experience dealing with air suspension issues, paying 890€ for diagnostics seems steep, especially since the symptoms clearly point to air leaks rather than compressor failure. While the compressor might be working harder to compensate, replacing it wont fix leaking suspension components. Recommend having a pressure test done first to locate all air leaks. My repair ended up being simpler, but in your case the repair might involve: Replacing damaged air lines, Fixing connection points at the air struts, Sealing any leaking suspension components The moisture and temperature sensitivity you mentioned are classic signs of deteriorated seals or cracked air lines. These typically cost 200-400€ to repair depending on how many components need replacement. Would you be able to record the hissing sound? This could help pinpoint exactly where the air leaks are occurring in the suspension system.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. After reading through the responses, I feel better informed about my air suspension problems. The similar experiences shared really help put things in perspective. Given the hissing noise, moisture, and how quickly the ride height drops, I agree that air leaks in multiple suspension components seem more likely than just a compressor issue. The dealership price of 890€ does seem high just for diagnostics. I will look for a shop that can do a proper pressure test of the suspension system first. Makes sense to accurately locate all the air leaks before replacing any parts. From what has been shared, fixing the lines and seals should cost significantly less than a full compressor replacement. Will try recording the hissing sound from the suspension components this weekend. The temperature sensitivity and quick height loss really point toward seal issues rather than electrical problems. Thank you all for helping narrow down the likely causes, this will definitely help when discussing repairs with the shop.

I had a similar issue with my 2017 XT4. As someone with some experience working on suspension systems, I initially thought it was the air struts causing the problem. After taking it to my workshop, they diagnosed air leaks coming from a faulty cable connection to the suspension pump. The symptoms were nearly identical, uneven ride height, warning lights, and misaligned headlights. The suspension components themselves were actually fine. The repair was relatively straightforward, they found and fixed the defective plug connection for 95€. This resolved all the symptoms including the error messages. The entire system started working properly again after the repair. Before suggesting more specific solutions, could you share: Any unusual noises from the suspension system? How long does it take for the car to start leaning after parking? Do you notice any visible damage to the air struts or surrounding components? When did the warning lights first appear? This information would help determine if your issue is similar to what I experienced or if you might be dealing with a different suspension component problem.
