Thanks for the thorough explanation about the amplifier theory. My own speaker crackle actually varied depending on the audio source, it was much worse with Bluetooth compared to radio, and the USB input had the clearest sound right up until the total failure. After reading about similar experiences on here, I will push my workshop to check the head unit amplifier circuit first instead of replacing the entire wiring system. The service history showing a clean wiring check at 79905km plus these source-dependent sound quality issues really point to an amplifier problem rather than faulty wiring throughout the car. I will let everyone know what they find. Hopefully a targeted repair of just the head unit amplifier section will fix my sound system for less than the 725€ some have paid for complete rewiring jobs.
