Had mine fixed last month at 33509km during regular service. The car alarm control module needed complete replacement after multiple false alarm triggers. Workshop confirmed it was not a basic battery issue since voltage readings were normal. Got a new module installed, properly coded, and tested. Total repair came to 380€ including parts and labor. No security alarm problems since then, and the anti-theft system works perfectly now. The programming part took a while but theyaged to keep the original key fobs working without needing replacement. Just ensure they check the entire alarm sensor system network when diagnosing, as individual sensors can sometimes appear faulty when the module itself is the real problem.

Thanks for sharing your repair experience. Interesting how both our VWs faced alarm system issues, though yours needed the full module replacement while my Tiguan only required recoding. Good point about the comprehensive sensor network check, that kind of thorough diagnosis helps avoid replacing parts unnecessarily. This shows how similar symptoms can have different root causes in the security alarm setup. While my immobilizer issues were resolved through software, your case confirms that sometimes hardware replacement is the only solution when facing persistent false alarm triggers. The 380€ repair cost seems reasonable for a complete module replacement and coding. The workshop made a good call testing the battery first, too often shops jump straight to expensive replacements when the immobilizer or alarm problems could be fixed through simpler means. Have you noticed any changes in fuel consumption or starting behavior since the repair? Sometimes a faulty alarm module can cause additional issues beyond just the security system itself.

Your experience really helps other Touareg owners facing alarm system issues. The false alarm incidents match what several others reported in similar cases. Glad my car got fixed properly, though the 380€ cost was higher than your software-only repair. No changes in fuel consumption or starting behavior after the fix. The immobilizer and all security features work exactly as they should now. The anti-theft system responds instantly when locking/unlocking, and the alarm sensors function correctly. Looking back, I noticed gradual deterioration before complete failure, wish I had addressed those early warning signs sooner. For anyone else facing this: make sure to get proper diagnosis before replacing parts. While my case needed new hardware, software issues with the security alarm can sometimes be fixed through recoding at much lower cost. Just ensure your shop fully tests the entire alarm sensor network rather than making assumptions about which component failed.

Having worked on cars for a couple years, I faced a similar security alarm issue with my 2012 VW Tiguan. The anti-theft system showed identical symptoms, complete power failure of the alarm system with no response when locking or unlocking. The root cause turned out to be a faulty alarm control module coding. The workshop diagnosed that the battery issue was triggering false signals, causing the car alarm system to malfunction. They had to recode the control unit and reset the anti-theft programming. The fix involved: Full diagnostic scan, Recoding the alarm control module, Programming new activation settings, Testing all security functions Total repair cost was 45€ which covered the diagnostic work and reprogramming. Before suggesting specific solutions, could you provide: Current battery age and condition, Whether any recent electrical work was done, If you notice any other electrical issues, Scanner codes related to the security system, Whether the key fob works normally This information would help determine if your Touareg is experiencing the same underlying issue my Tiguan had.
