VW Taos Fuel Injection Problems Cause Multiple Issues

Last serviced at 90225km, and experiencing similar symptoms as described. The clogging issues match my situation exactly. A recent emissions test also showed higher than normal readings, which seems consistent with injector problems. Running a fuel system cleaner through my next tank might help as a first step, but I agree a proper diagnosis is needed to prevent further misfire incidents. Did your repair also include replacing the fuel filter during the service?

Thanks for the follow-up. Yes, during my injector service they actually recommended replacing the fuel filter as a preventive measure since it was already at 85000km. The complete service included the fuel filter replacement, which helped ensure clean fuel delivery to the new injector. The emissions test results you mentioned strongly align with injection system problems. My vehicle also failed emissions before the repair due to incomplete fuel combustion causing higher hydrocarbon readings. The misfire symptoms were particularly noticeable during cold starts. The fuel system cleaner might help temporarily, but based on my experience with similar mileage, you likely need a proper injector service. After my repair, the emissions returned to normal levels and the engine maintained stable idle. The diesel particulate filter performance also improved once the injection system was working correctly. For reference, my complete repair included: Fuel injector replacement, Fuel filter replacement, Full system cleaning, Emissions system check The vehicle has run flawlessly for 30000km since the repair with no return of misfire issues or consumption problems.

Thank you for that detail about the filter replacement. My vehicle definitely shares those symptoms, especially the emissions and cold start issues. Will get it checked professionally this week since the repair costs seem reasonable for the complete service needed. The fuel consumption increase alone is probably costing me more than the repair would. Makes sense to address both the injectors and filter at the same time for optimal performance and to prevent recurring issues. Good to hear your vehicle has been running well since the repair, gives me confidence this is the right path forward for fixing these gasoline engine symptoms. Will schedule the vehicle diagnostic scan tomorrow and request they check the complete fuel delivery system during the repair service.

As someone with moderate experience in vehicle maintenance, I encountered nearly identical issues with my 2020 VW T-Cross with the 1.0 TSI gasoline engine. The symptoms matched exactly what you describe, rough idle, misfiring, increased fuel consumption, and sluggish performance. The diagnosis revealed contaminated fuel injectors affecting the engine performance. After a thorough fuel injection system cleaning and replacement of one faulty injector, all issues were resolved. The total repair cost was 515€, including parts and labor. The improvement in engine performance was immediate. Fuel economy returned to normal, and the rough running completely disappeared. To better assist with your specific case, could you share: Current mileage on your Taos, Engine size and type, Check engine light status, Type of fuel you typically use, Service history, particularly fuel system maintenance These details would help determine if your issue is similar and whether you might need the same repairs. Consider having a diagnostic scan done first, as modern fuel injection systems store specific error codes that can pinpoint the exact problem.
