VW T-Roc Power Windows Failure: Regulator Issues Alert

My T-Roc from 2018 has completely stopped responding to window controls. The power windows wont move up or down and theres an error code stored in the system. Im suspecting a faulty window regulator but want to confirm before heading to a repair shop. Has anyone experienced similar issues with their window mechanism? Would appreciate hearing about your repair experiences and what the actual problem turned out to be. Did you need a complete window regulator replacement or was it something simpler? Looking for insights on typical repair costs and time needed for this kind of automotive repair.

Had a similar issue with my VW Golf from 2016 with the power windows system. As someone with moderate experience in basic car maintenance, I initially thought it was the window track or regulator too. After diagnostic testing at my regular workshop, it turned out the power windows stopped working due to a faulty window control switch in the driver door panel. The window mechanism itself was actually fine. The repair took about 2 hours and cost 200€ including parts and labor. The symptoms were identical, completely unresponsive windows and an error code. The workshop explained these window switch failures are somewhat common in this platform. To better assist with your T-Roc issue, could you share: Does this affect all windows or just one? Can you hear any motor noise when pressing the switches? Are there any other electrical issues in the door (mirrors, locks)? What error code is showing specifically? This additional information would help determine if your case matches what I experienced or if its potentially a different window mechanism problem. Let me know these details and I can share more specific insights about the repair process.

Thanks for your experience. Just had my 141665km service last week actually. Like you mentioned, I had all windows affected and no motor noise at all when pushing the switches. Everything else works fine, central locking, mirrors, all good. The error code reads P1234 according to my OBD reader. After your post, I double-checked and noticed the master window control unit feels a bit loose when pressed, which might point to a similar switch issue like you had. Much rather deal with a control switch than a complete window regulator motor replacement. Will try to get it checked next week. Hoping for a straightforward fix like yours rather than major automotive repair work.

Glad you noticed that loose feeling in the master switch, that matches exactly what I experienced. The way all windows are affected and the complete silence when pressing really points to the control unit rather than individual window regulator motors or mechanisms. After my switch replacement, I learned this is quite common once these cars pass 100000km. The internal contacts wear down over time from regular use. In my case, all power windows started working perfectly after the new switch unit was installed. One recommendation based on my experience: have them check the wiring harness in the door while they are replacing the switch. My mechanic found some slightly worn insulation that could have caused issues later. The extra inspection only added about 15 minutes to the repair time. The 200€ I mentioned included that additional check. Given your symptoms match mine exactly, expect similar costs unless parts prices have changed significantly. The window control module itself was around 80€ and labor made up the rest. If they confirm its just the switch unit, the whole repair should take under 2 hours like mine did. Much better than dealing with a complete window mechanism overhaul.

The loose master switch and matching symptoms definitely point toward a similar control unit issue rather than window regulator problems. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it helps confirm my suspicions about the switch being the culprit rather than anything more serious with the window motors or mechanisms. Makes total sense about checking the wiring harness during the repair. Smart move that could prevent future headaches. The cost estimate of 200€ seems reasonable for parts and labor combined, especially if they do that extra inspection. Much better than what I was fearing for a full window mechanism replacement. Will book it in for next week and ask them to specifically check the master control unit first. The fact that all windows are affected with no motor sounds really matches your case. Will update once I get it sorted but feeling much more confident now about the likely repair path and costs. Thanks for helping narrow down the automotive repair to the most probable cause.
