VW Signal Light Issue Triggers Multiple Warning Codes

Last service was at 85000km where they did a full electrical system check. The turn indicator issue affects the right side and the warning light stays constant in the speedometer. No other electrical problems noticed, and weather doesnt seem to affect it. The mechanic did mention the turn signal lamp housing looked a bit worn during the service. After checking the fuses myself, I noticed the issue is most noticeable when using the right turn signal, it blinks faster than normal and triggers the warning light. The left side works perfectly fine. The signal lamp does illuminate but seems dimmer than the other side. Starting to think its actually a simple bulb replacement job rather than a major electrical fault.

Thanks for those additional details about your VW Transporter. The symptoms you describe, especially the fast blinking and dimmer signal lamp, strongly point toward a failing turn signal bulb or damaged lens. This is actually a common issue on these models. When I had the same problem on my Transporter, the faster blinking rate was the key indicator. The system is designed to blink rapidly when a turn signal bulb is failing or has poor connectivity. The dimmer light output you mentioned matches exactly what I experienced before replacing my automotive lighting unit. The constant warning light, combined with the fact that its only affecting the right side, suggests its likely not a major electrical issue. In my case, what looked like a worn signal lamp housing turned out to have a hairline crack letting moisture affect the bulb connection. The repair was straightforward: New turn signal lamp unit: 45€, Installation time: about 30 minutes, Cleared the error code after replacement Since your last electrical system check was fine and the left side works perfectly, Id recommend starting with the lamp replacement before exploring more complex electrical issues. This matches the repair path that worked on my vehicle with nearly identical symptoms.

Thanks for the detailed response. Makes sense about the fast blinking being a key symptom. Based on what you've shared and my symptoms, I'll go ahead with replacing the right signal lamp assembly first. The worn housing you mentioned sounds exactly like what my mechanic pointed out. After hearing how a cracked lens caused similar issues in your case, I'll make sure to check for any damage while doing the replacement. The 45€ cost seems reasonable compared to diagnosing a more complex electrical problem. I'll pick up a new indicator light unit tomorrow and try the replacement myself since it sounds straightforward. If the warning light and abnormal blinking persist after fixing the automotive lighting, then I'll look deeper into potential wiring issues. But given the matching symptoms, I'm hopeful this simpler fix will solve both problems.

Having worked on a 2009 VW Caddy with a similar electrical fault, I can share some relevant experience. After noticing similar warning lights and turn signal issues, I took it to a workshop. The initial diagnosis pointed to what seemed like a complex electrical fault, but it turned out to be a damaged wiring connection near the indicator light assembly. The mechanic found that moisture had corroded the plug connection to the turn signal, causing intermittent electrical issues. This not only triggered the warning light but also affected the flasher relay operation. The repair involved cleaning the connection points and replacing the damaged wiring section, costing 95€ in total. To properly diagnose your case, it would help to know: Which side is showing the turn signal issue (left/right/both)? Does the warning light stay constant or flicker? Have you noticed any other electrical components acting strangely? Is the issue more noticeable in wet weather? While bulb replacement can sometimes resolve similar symptoms, faulty connections often cause these integrated electrical issues. A proper diagnostic scan would help pinpoint whether its a simple indicator light problem or something more complex in the electrical system.
