VW Scirocco Diesel Injector Problems & Solutions

My VW Scirocco Diesel from 2015 shows clear signs of injection problems. The vehicle struggles to start, fuel consumption has increased significantly, and engine power is notably reduced. Also experiencing rough idling and the engine frequently stalls when idle. Pretty sure its related to faulty injectors, but looking for repair experiences from others who dealt with similar symptoms. Has anyone got this fixed and what was the actual problem? Mainly interested in workshop solutions and repair costs. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Had almost identical issues with my VW Golf 2.0 TDI from 2013. Being moderately experienced with diesel engines, I initially thought it was just dirty fuel, but the symptoms got worse over time. The engine started showing the same behavior, rough idle, increased fuel consumption, and significant power loss. After dealing with unusual stalling issues for about two weeks, I took it to a workshop. Diagnosis revealed clogging in the injection valves affecting the fuel delivery system. The repair involved a complete cleaning of the injection system and replacement of two faulty injectors. Total cost was 515€, which included parts and labor. After the fix, fuel consumption returned to normal and the engine runs smoothly again. These injection issues are fairly common in diesel engines and can seriously impact emissions and performance if left untreated. Critical to address it quickly to prevent more extensive engine damage. What engine variant does your Scirocco have? Also, have you noticed any specific driving conditions when the symptoms get worse? This info would help determine if your issue is similar and might need the same fix.

Last service was at 97919km and workshop did basic inspection but must have missed these signs. The symptoms actually get much worse during cold starts and when accelerating hard from low speeds. The black smoke from exhaust during acceleration is also concerning. Based on your experience, those costs seem reasonable if it solves the performance issues. The engine is a 2.0 TDI variant, so quite similar to your case. Did you need any additional repairs after fixing the injectors? Want to make sure nothing else needs checking while the vehicle is in for repairs.

Thanks for the additional details. Those symptoms with the black smoke during acceleration are exactly what I experienced with my Golf TDI before the repair, especially the cold start issues. After fixing the injectors, the workshop also recommended replacing the fuel filter since it was heavily contaminated from the misfire issues. This was an extra 85€ but worth it as preventive maintenance. No other repairs were needed afterwards. The black smoke indicates incomplete fuel combustion, which matches with clogged or defective injectors. Given your mileage and those specific symptoms, it sounds like an identical problem to what I faced. The repair should resolve both the emissions issue and restore proper engine performance. Important note though, have them check the fuel pressure regulator while doing the injector work. In my case it was still good, but its often linked to these types of injection problems and worth inspecting when the system is already opened up. The full repair resolved all issues and my fuel consumption returned to normal within about 500km of driving. The engine has been running perfectly for over 40000km since then with no injection-related problems.

Thanks for sharing your repair experience. My vehicle has the exact same 2.0 TDI engine, so this information is really helpful. The black smoke and cold start problems have been getting worse lately, so I better get it fixed soon before it causes more damage. Will definitely have them check the fuel pressure regulator during the repair. Including the fuel filter replacement, looking at around 600€ total which seems reasonable for solving these performance issues. Good to hear your engine has been trouble-free since the repair. Going to schedule the work next week. The vehicle symptoms match yours exactly, especially with the fuel consumption increase and power loss during acceleration. Really hoping this fixes all the problems like it did in your case. Appreciate the detailed information about the repair process and what to expect. Does this sound like a reasonable plan to get the diesel injection system sorted out properly?
