VW Golf Cabrio problems with the DPF

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2014 VW Golf Diesel. Instead of running as usual, I now notice black smoke when accelerating, the check engine light is on, I am experiencing a loss of power, and the DPF doesn't seem to be regenerating properly. There is also a strong exhaust smell. I suspect that it may be due to the heavily loaded diesel particulate filter. Has anyone had any experience with similar problems and can give me any tips on how to rectify the problem? Hey buddy, I had a pretty similar problem with my 2012 VW Passat Diesel. I have a bit of experience with cars, so not a pro, but not a novice either. Because of the same problem with the diesel particulate filter, which was defective due to high mileage, I had to take my car to the garage. The end of the story was that I had to pay 1550 euros to get it fixed. Have you already had your fault memory read? What error codes did it display? Have you ever checked the condition of your DPF? How many kilometers have you driven? Maybe I can help you a little more when I have a little more information. Best regards!

Hey, thanks for the reply! Yes, I've already had the fault memory read out and it showed me a few fault codes that point to the DPF. My Golf now has 223456 km on the clock, I think that's good for the service life of the DPF. 1,550 euros is really expensive, crap! But if there's no other way, I'll probably have to bite the bullet. Hey, yes, that sounds very much like your DPF has reached the end of its service life. Based on the symptoms you mentioned and your mileage, I would also guess that. My Passat had similar symptoms and a similar mileage at the time. I'm guessing your DPF replacement will probably be in the same price range. Perhaps it would also be an option to install a used DPF? A friend and I did that with his Audi some time ago, and he's been driving it without any problems so far. But that would of course be your personal decision. Greetings!
