VW Fox Diesel Oil Warning Points to Contamination

Looking for advice on my 06 VW Fox diesel (67805km) showing oil pressure warning light. My mechanic found dark oil color during the last service which could indicate oil contamination. Has anyone dealt with similar issues? What should I expect in terms of repairs? Last oil change was 5000km ago but warning keeps coming back. Just want to know if I need a second opinion or if this is a common problem that needs immediate attention.

As a VW Polo TDI 2009 owner, I experienced similar oil pressure warnings. When the mechanic checked my engine, the dark oil color combined with the warning light indicated serious contamination from fuel dilution. This required immediate attention since low oil pressure can cause severe engine damage. The issue often stems from: Exceeded maintenance intervals, Faulty fuel injectors allowing diesel to mix with oil, Clogged oil passages, Worn oil pump My case required: Complete oil system flush, New oil pump installation, Replacement of fuel injectors, Fresh oil change with specific oil additives This is a critical warning that shouldnt be ignored. While the oil change interval seems appropriate at 5000km, the persistent warning suggests underlying problems beyond routine maintenance. The dark oil color typically indicates either fuel contamination or excessive carbon buildup, both requiring professional diagnosis. A second opinion would be wise, specifically from a diesel specialist who can properly diagnose oil pressure issues. The problem will likely worsen if left unaddressed, potentially leading to complete engine failure. Would recommend getting a proper diagnostic test focusing on the fuel injection system and oil pressure readings at different RPMs.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Had almost identical symptoms with my Fox last year. The oil pressure light was really concerning, especially since the engine oil was so dark despite regular changes. Really helpful to know about the fuel injector connection, this turned out to be the main culprit in my case too. The oil filter was completely clogged which didnt help either. Good to see your mechanic was thorough with the whole system flush and pump replacement. Would you mind sharing roughly what the total repair cost was? Just curious if prices have changed much since my fix. Also wondering if youve had any recurring issues with the oil pressure warning since the repairs were done?

After getting everything fixed at the shop, my TDI has been running perfectly with no oil pressure warnings. The contamination in the engine oil was resolved once they addressed the maintenance interval that had been exceeded. The repair bill came to 165€, which included a complete system cleaning and fresh oil filter installation. The mechanic confirmed the importance of addressing oil pressure issues quickly, as contaminated oil can lead to serious engine damage if left unchecked. Regular maintenance with proper oil changes and quality oil additives is crucial for these diesel engines. My advice would be to stick to a strict maintenance schedule going forward. Since the repairs, Ive been changing the oil filter more frequently and using manufacturer-recommended oil, which has kept the system clean and pressure optimal. The investment in proper repairs definitely saved me from more expensive problems down the line.

I took my Fox to the mechanic last week after seeing your replies. The total repair came to 750€, definitely more than I expected but necessary given the extent of the oil contamination they found. My mechanic detected fuel in the oil and discovered two faulty injectors causing the problem. The repair included: Complete oil system flush, New injectors, Oil pump inspection, Fresh oil change with special oil additives, New oil filter The oil pressure warning disappeared immediately after the fix. The mechanic showed me the difference between the old contaminated oil color and the fresh oil, quite shocking to see. No oil leaks or pressure issues since then. Really glad I got it checked when I did. The mechanic said waiting longer could have caused engine seizure. Going to stick to 3000km oil change intervals from now on instead of the previous 5000km just to be safe. Thanks again for helping me understand the severity of the issue. Sometimes these warning lights are more serious than we think.
