VW Eos Remote Lock Failure, Troubleshooting Help Needed

Last service done at 137000km including full inspection. The key fob battery has been checked and replaced, and yes, manual key entry works fine in all door locks. No other electrical components are affected, power windows and mirrors work normally, and no warning lights on the dash. Interestingly, I noticed the problem started gradually. First, the keyless entry would work intermittently, especially in wet weather. Now it fails completely. Based on your experience with the corroded pins, this could indeed point to a similar wiring issue in the central locking control module. Would you recommend checking the fuse box first before heading to a workshop? Just wondering if its worth exploring simpler fixes before paying for diagnostic testing.

Thanks for providing those additional details about your VW Eos. Your symptoms match exactly what I experienced with my Golf, especially the gradual failure and sensitivity to wet weather. This strongly suggests a similar wiring connection issue. Checking the fuse box is definitely worth trying first, specifically the fuses related to the central locking system. However, given the gradual failure pattern and weather sensitivity, a blown fuse is unlikely to be the root cause. In my case, the fuses were all intact despite the locking mechanism problems. The progression from intermittent to complete failure of the car locks, combined with working manual key operation, points strongly to corroded connections in the control module, just like what I had. The moisture sensitivity is a telltale sign of this type of electrical issue. A workshop visit for proper diagnostics would be the next logical step. The repair cost should be similar to what I paid (95€), assuming its the same issue. Make sure to mention these specific symptoms to the technician: Gradual failure of central locking, Weather sensitivity, Working manual locks, No other electrical issues Based on my experience, this is likely a straightforward fix once properly diagnosed, and not an extensive central locking system replacement.

Thanks for the helpful responses. I really appreciate the detailed feedback, especially about the similar issues with other VW models. The gradual failure pattern matching your experience is particularly reassuring. I checked the fuse box this morning and all fuses related to the car alarm and central locking system look fine. Given the similarities with your case, especially the weather sensitivity and gradual failure, I will book the car in for a diagnostic check. The 95€ repair cost seems reasonable if it fixes the remote locking issues. The key fob problems are definitely frustrating, but knowing its likely just corroded connections rather than a complete system failure makes me feel better about the situation. Will update once I get it checked out at the workshop. Thanks again for helping me narrow down the probable cause before spending money on repairs.

Had the exact same issue with my 2013 VW Golf. As someone with some experience working on VWs, I initially thought it was just a dead key fob battery, but that wasnt the problem. Took it to a workshop where they diagnosed a faulty wiring connection between the central locking control module and the door locks. The technician found corroded pins in one of the main connection plugs. Total repair cost was 95€, which included diagnostic testing and fixing the connection. The symptoms were identical, complete failure of the central locking system through the key fob, while the rest of the car worked perfectly fine. The car alarm system was also acting up occasionally due to the same wiring issue. Before you spend money on repairs, could you share: Have you checked the key fob battery? Does manual key entry still work in all door locks? Are there any other electrical issues, like power windows or mirrors? Did you notice any warning lights on the dash? This info would help determine if youre dealing with the same connection problem or possibly something else in the central locking system.
