Last service was done at 65000KM and everything was fine back then. Interestingly, this problem started showing up gradually over the past week. Initially, the brake would engage with a slight delay, but now it completely fails to respond. Thank you for sharing such detailed info about your repair experience. The error code showing on my display is P1234, and yes, the ABS warning light is also illuminated along with the electronic brake warning. I will contact the dealer since its still under warranty, but your repair details really help understand what to expect.

Thanks for providing those additional details. The gradual onset of the electronic brake failure you described matches exactly what happened with my e-Transporter. The delay in brake engagement was the first warning sign for me too, before complete system failure. The error code P1234 combined with the ABS warning light suggests the same brake caliper motor issue I experienced. In my case, the gradual deterioration was due to moisture infiltration in the electronic brake components, which eventually led to corrosion in the motor assembly. A critical detail I forgot to mention about my repair: the workshop also found and replaced a damaged wiring harness connected to the brake actuator. This was causing intermittent electrical connectivity issues that contributed to the system glitch. While under warranty, ensure they: Check the wiring harness for any signs of wear, Test the voltage output to the brake actuator, Verify the brake control module is functioning correctly, Perform a full system calibration after repairs The parking brake failure typically links to the ABS system in these vehicles, so both issues should resolve once the underlying problem is fixed.

Thanks for the helpful responses. Just wanted to provide a quick update: I took the Crafter to the dealer today after all the brake failure symptoms worsened overnight. The service advisor confirmed it needs a new brake caliper motor, exactly as suggested here. They also found corroded wiring in the brake diagnostics system that needs replacement. The good news is that the warranty covers everything, including the parking brake assembly repair and rewiring work. They estimated 2-3 days for parts delivery and complete electronic brake system repair. Meanwhile they provided a courtesy vehicle since the faulty brake system makes the Crafter unsafe to drive. Really appreciate all the detailed information shared here about similar brake fault experiences. It helped me understand the issue better and know what to expect at the service center. Will update once I get the vehicle back and confirm all the brake functions are working properly again.

I had the exact same electronic brake issue with my VW e-Transporter from 2021. Having some experience with electric vehicles, I immediately recognized the symptoms you described. The parking brake switch in my van completely failed, showing similar warning lights and error codes. After initial diagnosis, the workshop found that the electric motor in the brake caliper was defective, causing the entire electronic brake system to malfunction. The repair involved: Complete diagnostic scan, Replacing the faulty brake caliper motor, System recalibration, Testing of all parking brake functions Total cost was 505€, but since yours is under warranty, this should be covered. The repair took about 4 hours at the workshop. Before suggesting specific solutions, could you share: Build year of your Crafter EV, Current mileage, Exact error code displayed, Whether the vehicle safety systems show any other warnings, If the issue occurred suddenly or developed gradually This information would help confirm if your issue matches what I experienced with my e-Transporter. The system glitch might be similar since both vehicles share comparable electronic brake technology. My advice would be to have it checked promptly, as a malfunctioning parking brake can create serious vehicle safety concerns.
