VW Caddy Climate Control Failures: Multiple Symptoms

At 17349km and after my latest service 2 months ago, I realized these climate control issues. The problems started gradually. The blower motor still runs but very weakly, even at maximum setting. No error codes showing up during diagnostics, but the air conditioning system remains completely dead while the temperature sensor displays inconsistent readings. I checked for moisture around the control panel area but everything appears dry. The warning light pulses rather than staying solid, which makes me think it could be an electronic fault rather than mechanical. Would really appreciate input on whether I should consider a complete wiring harness inspection before replacing any major components.

Thanks for those additional details. Your situation sounds even more similar to what I encountered with my VW Golf, especially the pulsing warning light and weak blower performance. In my case, the gradual onset of problems was also a telltale sign of deteriorating electrical connections. Even though moisture wasnt visible, the temperature sensor irregularities combined with the pulsing warning light strongly pointed to power supply issues in the climate control system. What worked for my repair: Started with voltage testing at the control panel connections, Found intermittent power supply issues affecting the blower control module, Located several degraded connectors in the main wiring harness, Required cleaning and reseating of multiple electrical contacts Before jumping to component replacement, I definitely recommend getting the wiring harness thoroughly inspected. My repair ultimately cost 120€ because we caught it before any permanent damage occurred to the climate control components. The weak blower performance at maximum setting particularly matches my experience. This typically indicates the control panel isnt sending proper voltage signals through the system, rather than a mechanical blower issue. Based on the matching symptoms and timing, I suspect youre facing similar electrical connection problems rather than failed components.

The voltage testing suggestion makes a lot of sense. Since my HVAC system problems started after the service, I wonder if something got disturbed during maintenance. The intermittent power supply theory would explain both the weak blower and the unresponsive climate control panel. I called a workshop that specializes in electrical diagnostics. They quoted 80€ for a full inspection of the wiring harness and electrical connectors. They said theyll check all power supply connections to the control module and temperature sensors first before recommending any parts replacement. That seems like a reasonable starting point given the symptoms. Much better than blindly replacing expensive components. Ill book it in next week and update once I know what they find. Really hoping its just connection issues like in your case rather than having to replace the entire climate control unit. Thanks for sharing your experience, helped me understand what to look for and avoid potentially unnecessary repairs. The failing electrical connections explanation fits all my symptoms perfectly.

Having dealt with a similar climate control problem on my 2012 VW Golf (also petrol), I can share my experience as someone with moderate expertise in car electronics. The symptoms match what I encountered, unresponsive controls, inconsistent temperature readings, and system failures. In my case, the root cause was traced to damaged electrical connectors in the climate control wiring harness. Moisture had corroded several connections behind the control panel. The repair involved: Diagnostic scan of the electronic control unit, Removal of the control panel, Inspection of the wiring harness connections, Replacement of corroded electrical connectors, System reset and testing Total cost was 95€ for parts and labor. The air conditioning and heating worked perfectly after the repair. To provide more specific guidance, could you share: Are there any error codes showing? Does the blower motor run at all? When did the problems first start? Have you noticed any moisture or water ingress near the controls? This could help determine if your issue is similar to what I experienced with the electrical connectors or if its related to other climate control components.
