VW Bora Phone Connectivity Fix: Error Memory Issues

Just had my latest service 2 weeks ago at 103292km and they did notice some electrical fault codes stored in the system memory. The mechanic cleared them but didnt do a full system reset. The connection issues came back within days. My infotainment unit shows firmware version 2.4 and the problems started right after a phone system update. No error messages show up on the display, it just wont detect any devices. Going to try the complete system reset you mentioned before spending more money at the workshop. The transmission and other electrical systems are working fine, its just the connectivity that keeps failing. Thanks for the detailed information about the repair costs and workshop experience.

Thanks for the additional details. Your situation sounds exactly like what I experienced with my Golf, especially the timing with the phone update. After my initial workshop visit, I also had the error codes return within a few days when they only cleared the codes without doing the full reset protocol. What worked permanently for my electrical fault was having the workshop perform these specific steps: Complete removal of all previously paired devices from system memory, Full system reboot while disconnected from power (30 minutes minimum), Installation of a firmware patch (brought it to version 2.5), New pairing protocol setup The second workshop visit cost 65€ but solved the issue permanently. The important part was the firmware update, version 2.4 had known compatibility issues with newer phone operating systems. Since your transmission and other electrical systems are working normally, this targeted fix should resolve the connectivity problems. Make sure to mention the failed previous attempt at just clearing codes when you go back to the workshop. This will help them understand why a more comprehensive reset and update is needed.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. After reading about your similar experiences, I decided to book another workshop appointment for next week. The system malfunction seems more complex than just a simple reset since the error codes keep coming back. Will make sure to request the full reset protocol and firmware update to version 2.5 as suggested. The 65€ cost seems reasonable if it permanently fixes these annoying connectivity issues. Having a properly working infotainment system is worth the investment, especially since the transmission and other systems are running fine. I appreciate the detailed explanation of the repair steps. It helps me understand what to expect and ensures I can communicate better with the mechanic about the specific fix needed. Will update once the workshop completes the system upgrade and reset procedure.

I had a similar electrical fault with my 2002 VW Golf. After struggling for weeks with connection issues and function restrictions, I finally took it to a workshop. Having some experience working on cars, I tried resetting the system myself first but couldn't resolve the connectivity problems. The workshop diagnosed a malfunction in the pairing protocol and cleared the stored error codes from the system memory. The entire fix, including diagnostic work and system reset, cost 45€. The engine light never came on, but the connectivity system just wouldn't recognize any devices. The issue was resolved by completely removing all paired devices and performing a full system reset. Since then, the connection problems haven't returned, and the system works perfectly with my phone. To better assist with your specific case, could you share: Which infotainment system version is installed? When did the connection issues start? Are there any other electrical issues present? Does the system show any specific error messages? This information would help determine if your situation matches what I experienced and whether the same solution might work.
