Wow, thanks for sharing your Tiguan suspension experience. Your damping control issue sounds very similar to what I am experiencing with my Atlas. The shop also mentioned possible wiring problems when checking my shock absorber system, but they seemed unsure about the root cause. Did you recall roughly how much you ended up paying for the complete suspension repair? Also, has everything been working properly since they fixed those corroded connections, or have you noticed any other suspension issues popping up?

Thanks for asking about the repair costs. Happy to report that since fixing the damping adjustment fault on my Tiguan, car handling has been perfect with no recurring suspension issues. The repair was much simpler and cheaper than initially feared, just 95€ to fix a faulty cable connection at the damping control sensor. The suspension system has performed flawlessly for the past 8 months. No more warning lights or rough rides. The suspension tuning is back to normal, providing the right balance of comfort and control. This really confirms my suspicion that electrical connections, rather than mechanical parts, were behind the suspension failure. Would definitely suggest having your Atlas checked specifically for similar wiring issues. A proper diagnostic scan focusing on the electrical components of the suspension system could save you from more expensive repairs down the road.

Just got back from the mechanic after getting my Atlas checked based on your advice about the damping control issues. Turns out you were spot on, they found corroded wiring connections in the suspension system, similar to what you described with your Tiguan. The diagnostic scan revealed faulty electrical connections at the shock absorber sensors. Total repair cost came to 280€, including new wiring harness and labor. More than what you paid, but still reasonable considering the alternative of replacing major suspension components. Test drove it afterwards and the difference is remarkable. The vehicle suspension feels solid again, warning lights are gone, and the ride quality is back to normal. No more concerning noises or rough spots when driving over normal road surfaces. Really appreciate you sharing your experience. Helped me push for the right diagnosis instead of accepting the first shops vague assessment of the suspension issue. Going to keep an eye on the damping control system, but feeling confident the problem is properly fixed this time.

Had similar suspension issues with my 2018 VW Tiguan. Vehicle suspension started acting up with warning lights and noticeably rougher ride. The damping control module showed error codes, pointing to damaged wiring harness connections near the shock absorber assembly. Root cause turned out to be corroded plug connectors at the damping control sensor. After repeated diagnostic tests, found that moisture had penetrated the protective casing, leading to connection failures in the suspension system. The fix required replacing the entire wiring harness and sensor unit for the affected shock absorber. This was a serious issue since faulty connections can cause the suspension system to default to hardest setting, risking premature wear of other components. The repair involved dismantling significant portions of the suspension assembly to access and replace the damaged parts. Based on your symptoms, recommend getting a full diagnostic scan specifically focused on the damping control module. The rough ride quality combined with warning lights often indicates electrical issues rather than mechanical suspension problems. Have them check all wiring connections and ground points in the suspension system.
