VW Amarok: ABS Warning + Heavy Steering Points to Tires

Just noticed my ABS warning light along with heavy steering and wheel vibrations. Been having issues with inflated tires lately, pressure loss showing on dashboard. Could this all be tire related or something more serious? Running a 2010 VW Amarok Diesel at 67584km. Last mechanic visit wasnt great, looking for advice before picking a new shop. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms?

Thanks for the detailed reply. You really nailed it, it was exactly the faulty tire sensor causing all the trouble. Got it fixed last week and the heavy steering and vibrations completely disappeared. The ABS warning also cleared up once they recalibrated everything. Just wondering, how much did your repair end up costing? Did any other issues pop up after getting the tire sensors replaced? My Amarok has been running smooth since the fix, but always good to know what to watch out for. The mechanic mentioned air leaks were pretty common with these sensors, so Im keeping a close eye on any low tire warnings. Better catch these things early before they cause more problems.

Thanks for the input. Finally went to get this sorted at a new mechanic shop yesterday. Total bill was 320€, bit more than expected but worth every cent seeing how the car drives now. The whole process took about 3 hours. They found two faulty tire sensors causing the pressure loss and inconsistent readings. Once they replaced those and recalibrated the system, the ABS warning disappeared right away. The heavy steering cleared up on the drive home. Turns out the flat tire warnings were stressing the power steering because the system was constantly trying to compensate for what it thought was unstable tire pressure. The mechanic showed me how the old sensors were actually corroded inside, causing all those false readings. Really glad I got this checked out before it led to bigger problems. The car feels completely different now, no more vibrations or steering issues. Going to keep tracking the tire pressure readings closely, but so far everything looks stable.
