Thanks for sharing your experience with the DPF issue. My Amarok started showing similar symptoms last month. The diesel filter backpressure readings were off the charts and cleaning attempts werent successful either. Had to get the whole unit replaced. Can you remember roughly how much you paid for the complete repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the filter replacement or did you notice any other issues?

Since having the defective diesel particulate filter replaced last year, my Tiguan has been running perfectly with no exhaust system issues. The sensor fault warnings cleared immediately and the engine regained its full power. The complete repair cost me 1550€, which included the new DPF unit and labor. The fuel efficiency actually improved noticeably after the replacement. I had the vehicle inspection done a few months later and everything checked out fine. No smoke, no power loss, no warning lights since then. Makes sense to get it fixed properly rather than trying temporary solutions that could lead to more expensive problems down the line. Really worth investing in quality parts and proper diagnostic work when dealing with DPF issues. A complete replacement might seem expensive initially, but its definitely cheaper than risking engine damage from a malfunctioning filter.

After dealing with my Amarok DPF troubles, I finally got it sorted at a certified diesel workshop. The total repair came to 1850€ including parts and labor. The engine light disappeared right after the replacement and the vehicle runs like new again. The mechanic showed me the old filter, it was completely clogged with soot buildup. No wonder the regeneration cycles were failing. They also checked the entire exhaust system and adjusted the backpressure settings during the repair. Three months later and the fuel efficiency is noticeably better. No more smoke or power loss issues. Really glad I went with a complete replacement instead of trying cheaper temporary fixes. Lesson learned about not ignoring early warning signs of DPF problems.

Had the same symptoms on a VW Tiguan 2.0 TDI from 2015. The sudden power loss combined with visible smoke pointed to a clogged DPF system. The sensor fault warning appeared on the dashboard shortly after. A thorough DPF cleaning wasnt enough in my case. The filter replacement became necessary as the internal honeycomb structure was damaged beyond repair. The regeneration cycles had failed multiple times before, which led to excessive soot buildup. The repair work involved: Complete DPF system inspection, Replacement of the main filter unit, Reset of the engine management system, Test drives to confirm fuel efficiency This was a serious repair that required specialized diagnostic equipment. The symptoms you describe match exactly what happened before my DPF failed completely. Worth noting that driving with a failing DPF can cause additional engine damage if left unaddressed. Getting this fixed at a certified diesel specialist is crucial. They need proper diagnostic tools to determine if regeneration is still possible or if the filter requires replacement.
