Unusual behavior and problems with the vehicle height of the Toyota Prius Hybrid (2014)

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Toyota Prius (hybrid, year of manufacture 2014). The car is behaving very unusually. I've noticed that the vehicle height is uneven and the excessive jumping is also new to me. I'm at a bit of a loss, but think it might have something to do with the ride height control. Has anyone had similar experiences or has any tips for isolating the fault? I'd be really interested to hear how you solved this in the workshop and what happened.

Hi, I had exactly the same problem with my Toyota Auris (built in 2012). I'm not really a car professional, but have some experience with cars. The exact same thing happened to me, the ride height was uneven and the car bounced excessively. At my garage they found that the control unit was faulty. It was an expensive repair, cost me around 1000 euros, but after that the whole problem was solved. It would be helpful if you could share more details about your vehicle, such as the mileage or whether you have recently changed anything on your car. That way I might be able to help you a bit more accurately. Hope this helps you!

Hello, thank you for your quick reply. My Prius has covered 205158 kilometers so far, so it's already been through a lot. I haven't really done more than the usual maintenance and the last inspection. So an ECU fault could definitely play a role, so now I have something to worry about! I'll see what my garage has to say about your tip and hope that it won't be quite so expensive. It will definitely be exciting! Thank you for your help.

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! Yes, it really could be the ECU on your Prius, especially if it's been a while since it was replaced. It's always difficult to diagnose accurately if you can't examine the car yourself, but at least that's a possibility. Another thing that comes to mind could be a faulty ride height control. This can happen if the suspension has been subjected to excessive stress - from loading or driving on very rough roads, for example. It could also be a simple ageing problem with the suspension. However, a mechanic should be able to confirm or rule this out relatively quickly. Hopefully this will help you and I hope that the repair won't be too expensive. In any case, let us know what you find out. We all like to learn! Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the detailed answer again! Those are really good pointers. The suspension thing in particular makes sense, I've actually moved the car a few times recently. I will definitely bring this up at the garage. And don't worry, I'll keep you posted on the repair. I'm really pleased to have received such helpful answers here. Thank you for that! I'll get back to you as soon as I know more. Until then, all the best!
