Troubleshooting Dim Lights and Weak Battery Issue in '04 Fiat Siena

Hey everyone, I'm wrangling with an odd problem on my '04 Fiat Siena with a gas engine. The battery's been super weak on start-up, and the lights have been pretty dim or flickering. I'm guessing it might be related to undervoltage detected in the car. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? Wondering what others have done to troubleshoot this situation and how your workshop fixed it. Anybody have any tips or experiences to share?

Hey, I had this issue with my '02 Fiat Palio, quite the sibling to your Siena! I'm no expert, just been tinkering with cars for a while. Back then, my mechanics zeroed in on the battery itself. Turned out it was indeed defective. Cost me about 290 Euro to get it replaced. After that, my problems were history. Of course, it's always hard to diagnose issues without all the info, mind sharing the mileage and how long you've had the battery? It might just be that time for yours.

Hey, I appreciate you sharing your experience! My Siena's got 111964 km on her and I last replaced the battery around the end of 2018. Maybe it is time for a replacement, 3 years is decent lifespan for a battery, right? Did you replace it with a genuine Fiat battery or you opted for something else? The costs you mentioned sound fairly reasonable to me.

Oh, your Siena has a decent mileage and you're right, 3 years is a pretty good lifespan for a battery. I definitely think a replacement might be imminent based on the symptoms you're describing. As for the battery, I didn't actually get a genuine Fiat one. I replaced it with a Bosch one which has been working out great for me so far. So don't worry about needing to stick strictly to Fiat parts when going for a replacement. Just ensure you're getting the right specifications for your car, maybe ask in your local auto parts store if you're unsure. They're usually pretty helpful. Hope this helps and here's to a quick and inexpensive fix!

Hey, thanks for the tip and the suggestion! I'll look into Bosch batteries then, a bit of research never hurts. It's comforting to know others have faced this issue and have been able to resolve it. Ready for that bright light and strong start-up again. Fingers crossed for me, and very much appreciate your help on this! Keep tinkering!
