T-Roc Climate Control Failures: Common Fixes Revealed

Latest service done 2 weeks ago at 39200km. Thanks for the helpful response. The error code I keep getting is P0531 which apparently relates to the AC pressure sensor circuit. The control panel display works intermittently, sometimes it lights up fine, other times its completely dead. The issue started gradually over the last month, first with inconsistent heating and then the AC stopped working entirely. No visible moisture damage around the HVAC system or control panel area, though I did notice some wiring harness connectors look a bit worn when I checked under the dash. The power supply to the unit seems inconsistent based on the flickering display. Would these symptoms align with what you experienced with your connector issues?

Thanks for providing those details. Yes, the symptoms you describe are very similar to what I experienced, especially the intermittent display behavior and gradual performance decline. However, the P0531 code points to a slightly different issue than what I had. In my case, the faulty connections were causing general electronic faults, but your AC pressure sensor circuit error suggests the problem might extend beyond just the connectors. The worn wiring harness you noticed could be causing voltage fluctuations to both the pressure sensor and the climate control unit. After my repair, I learned these systems are quite sensitive to power supply issues. The flickering display you mentioned is a classic sign of electrical problems, either from damaged wiring or poor connections. My temperature sensor readings were also unreliable before the fix, which caused similar heating performance issues. Based on my experience, I recommend having both the wiring harness and the AC pressure sensor checked. When the workshop fixed my car, they found multiple issues that weren't apparent from just the initial symptoms. The inconsistent power supply to your control unit could be damaging other components if left unchecked. The repair might be more extensive than my 95€ fix, but addressing it early prevents more expensive complications later.

Thanks for the input. After getting this feedback about the electrical issues, I feel more confident about what to tell the workshop. The similarities between these symptoms and your connector problem are helpful to know about, though that P0531 code does make me think there might be more going on with my HVAC system than just bad connections. Going to have them check both the wiring harness and the AC pressure sensor when I take it in. The blower motor still works sometimes, so hopefully the core components are still good. Really hoping this wont turn into a major repair job, but at least I know what to expect now. Will probably schedule this for next week since the electronic faults seem to be getting worse. One question though, after your repairs, did you have any residual climate control issues? Just wondering if I should expect everything to work perfectly once fixed or if these systems sometimes need additional tweaking.

Had a similar issue with my 2015 VW Golf with the climate control system showing the exact same symptoms. As someone with some experience working on cars, I first tried the basic troubleshooting but quickly realized this needed professional attention. The main problem turned out to be damaged electrical connectors behind the control panel. The temperature sensor was getting incorrect readings due to a loose connection, causing the entire climate control system to malfunction. The workshop found that some pins in the main connector were corroded and making poor contact. The fix involved replacing the damaged connector assembly and recalibrating the system. Total cost was 95€ for parts and labor, which seems reasonable given the technical nature of the repair. To provide more specific advice for your T-Roc, could you share: Are you getting any specific error codes? Does the control panel display work at all? Did this start suddenly or gradually get worse? Have you noticed any moisture or water damage in that area? This information would help determine if you are dealing with the same underlying issue that affected my Golf.
