Thanks for sharing your experience with the SQ8. The wire harness issue sounds similar to what I might be facing. Mind sharing what the total repair cost was? Im curious if anyone else had recurring problems after the fix, since Im a bit worried about long term reliability after this type of repair.

Just got my SQ8 back today after dealing with similar climate control issues. The fix was much simpler than my previous wire harness concern. The mechanic found a faulty interior temperature sensor that was causing the climate regulation problems. Total repair cost came to 95 Euro for fixing the cable connection to the temperature sensor. The issue turned out to be a loose plug connection that was disrupting the sensor readings. The repair shop cleaned the contacts and secured the connection properly. I can confirm all climate issues are now resolved, the auto climate control and AC are working perfectly. No error codes since the sensor replacement and connection fix. Based on the technicians feedback, these sensor-related repairs tend to be quite reliable once properly addressed, so you shouldnt need to worry about recurring problems. Much better outcome than my initial concern about extensive wire harness damage. If your symptoms match, definitely worth checking the sensor connections first before assuming worst-case scenarios.

Just got back from the shop and wanted to share how it went. Turned out the temperature sensor was indeed the culprit, but not exactly how I expected. The mechanic found corrosion on the sensor connector pins causing intermittent climate regulation failures. Total repair was surprisingly reasonable at 120 Euro including parts and labor. They cleaned the connector housing, replaced the temperature sensor, and ran a full HVAC sensor diagnostic to verify everything was working properly. The whole job took about 3 hours. Climate control is now working perfectly, auto mode responds correctly and the AC blows cold again. Really glad I asked here first since it helped me discuss the issue more knowledgeably with the technician and avoid unnecessary repairs. Thanks again for the input. Hopefully this helps others dealing with similar temperature control problems.

Had the same HVAC sensor problem on my 2020 Audi SQ8. The climate regulation system showed similar symptoms, no response from auto climate control and AC failure. Initial sensor diagnostics pointed to the interior temperature sensor, but after thorough testing, the real issue was a damaged wire harness connector near the blower motor. The temperature control module was getting incorrect readings due to intermittent connection issues. The repair involved replacing the entire wire harness section and recalibrating the temperature sensor system. This was a significant repair that required specialized diagnostic equipment to properly identify the failing component. This type of climate control failure can be misleading since it presents like a simple sensor issue but often involves more complex wiring problems. I recommend having a certified technician perform complete HVAC sensor testing before replacing any components. Not a quick fix, the car was in the shop for 2 days due to the complexity of accessing the wiring behind the dashboard and ensuring all climate regulation systems were properly calibrated after the repair.
