Skoda Yeti Diesel Engine Issues

I am experiencing some issues with my 2011 Skoda Yeti diesel. I've noticed a reduction in engine power, the check engine light is on, and there's some smoke when accelerating. The engine also runs rough, fuel consumption is higher, and there's jerking during acceleration, accompanied by a loud hissing sound. I suspect a defective EGR valve. Has anyone encountered similar problems?

I had a similar issue with my Skoda Yeti. I noticed reduced engine power and the check engine light illuminated on the dashboard. I also suspected the EGR valve. Have you checked for any vacuum leaks in the EGR system? It might be worthwhile to inspect the catalytic converter as well.

Thank you for your insights. Regarding the vacuum leaks and catalytic converter, how did you check those components specifically? Did you observe any other symptoms besides the reduced power and check engine light?

In my case, the check engine light was the first indicator, followed by the power loss. I didn't perform any diagnostics myself. Considering your symptoms, particularly the loud hissing, it does point towards a potential vacuum leak in conjunction with the EGR valve. Given the potential impact on the catalytic converter and the complexity of the recirculation system, I would suggest taking it to a qualified mechanic for a proper diagnosis.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It seems like the EGR valve is indeed the most likely culprit. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it. The automotive repair cost me 355€. Now my Skoda Yeti runs smoothly again.
