Skoda Superb Hybrid Engine Issues

Alright, I'm getting a bit worried here and hoping someone can shed some light. My 2022 Skoda Superb hybrid is giving me grief. It's got a lot of km on the clock, and recently the engine light came on. I've also noticed the engine is running rough, there's a noticeable exhaust leak, and a strong exhaust smell. My gut feeling tells me it's something to do with the exhaust treatment system. I've read a bit about it, and I'm suspecting a dodgy oxygen sensor. Could that be the culprit, potentially messing with the catalytic converter? Any thoughts or similar experiences?

Check your oxygen sensor, your issue sounds related to that. Also, give a look to the catalytic converter, in my case it had gone bad.

Thanks for the tip! Just to be sure, was your Superb doing the exact same thing? Rough engine, exhaust smell, engine light on? And which oxygen sensor was it? Did it also mess with your catalytic converter or NOx sensors?

Yep, same symptoms here. Car was almost undriveable. When the oxygen sensor goes, it can damage the catalytic converter over time. Get it checked quickly before things get worse and more expensive. A workshop is your best bet.

Just got the car back from the shop. Turns out my suspicions were correct. It was indeed a defective lambda sensor, causing the exhaust treatment malfunction and all those nasty symptoms. Replaced it, and the engine is running smooth again. The engine light is gone too. Cost me 375€, which is a bit steep, but worth it to have the car back in top shape. Thanks a bunch for your help and confirming my fears. Really appreciate it!
