Skoda Scala Start Stop Problem

Thanks for your response! I haven't tested the voltage directly. However, wouldn't a heavily discharged or defective battery also affect other systems? The car starts without issue, and the lights are bright. Is it possible the start-stop system is just more sensitive to voltage drops than other components?

While other systems might appear to function normally, the start-stop system, especially in modern vehicles, is extremely sensitive to voltage fluctuations. The system requires a significant surge of power for the automatic restart. A marginally weak battery might still crank the engine for a regular start, but it could fail to provide the necessary power for the start-stop function. Considering the age of the battery and the symptoms, it's highly probable that it's the culprit. Given the error stored in the memory, it's best to take it to a workshop for a proper battery test and potential replacement. The expense should be around 290€.

Many thanks for the detailed explanation and confirmation! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – it was indeed the battery. A new one set me back 290€, and now the start-stop is working as expected. I appreciate the help!

The symptoms you describe certainly point towards a battery issue affecting the idle stop functionality. The stored error, coupled with the engine stalling and the warning light, is indicative of insufficient power to reliably perform automatic restarts. While the system might attempt to shut off the engine in Eco mode, a weak battery can struggle to handle the subsequent restart, triggering the error. Have you tested the battery's voltage recently, especially after the vehicle has been sitting overnight? What is the battery's age?
