The engine runs rough constantly, whether it is warm or cold. Regarding a diagnostic tool, do you have a specific one to recommend? Or is any diagnostic tool sufficient? I'm unsure about which one to choose and if they all have the same capabilities to read all error codes.

If it is constantly rough, it really sounds like the air temperature sensor. I used a generic diagnostic tool and got the same error. While I don't have recommendations, I suggest confirming the error code and checking the wiring to the sensor first. If that's all fine, then you probably need a new intake air temperature sensor. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, I would suggest taking it to a workshop.

Took the Scala to the local garage. The diagnostic tool confirmed a faulty intake air temperature sensor. They replaced it, and the check engine light is now off. The engine seems to be running smoothly again, and the power is back. Total bill came to 155€.

I had similar symptoms with my Skoda Scala: check engine light, rough running, and a noticeable drop in power. I'd suggest using a diagnostic tool to read the error code. It might give you a clearer picture. Did the engine act up only when it was cold or all the time?
