Thanks for the quick reply. When you say you had a similar thing, did you also get the smoke on acceleration? And did you fix it yourself, or did you take it to a shop? I'm not really confident poking around the engine too much myself.

Yeah, the smoke could be from unburnt fuel if the glow plugs aren't heating properly. It's a pain. Honestly, unless you're super confident with electrics, I'd get it checked by a workshop. Better safe than sorry, especially with a diesel engine. The control unit isn't crazy expensive, so hopefully, it's just that. Good luck.

Just wanted to say thanks for your help. I took it to a local garage, and it turned out to be exactly what you said a dodgy connection on the glow plug control unit. 95€ later, and she's running like a dream again. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

Whoa, sounds familiar. I had a similar thing happen with my Roomster. Preheating light staying on, engine light popping up the whole shebang. Though I didn't notice any smoke, so maybe yours is a bit more advanced. Did you check the glow plugs themselves? Could be a faulty glow plug causing the control unit to throw a fit. I remember someone mentioning that the control unit is a common issue.
