Skoda Roomster Error Messages and Potential Coding Issue

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2015 Skoda Roomster, gasoline engine. An error is stored in the error memory, and I'm getting corresponding error messages both in the infotainment system and on the speedometer. I suspect it might be due to incorrect coding. Before I commit to engine diagnostics at a workshop, has anyone encountered something similar? I've already checked the usual suspects, like battery voltage and obvious sensor malfunctions.

I had a similar issue with my Opel Astra. A fault code kept appearing related to the emissions system. The malfunction indicator was constantly illuminated. Did you use a diagnostic scanner to read the specific fault code? That would be helpful before assuming it's a coding issue.

Yes, I used a scan tool. The fault code points towards an issue with the engine control unit's configuration. I'm just wondering if there's a way to verify this myself before taking it to a workshop. Is there something specific I should be looking for?

If you already have the fault code and it indicates a coding problem, it's likely the cause. In my case with the Astra, the scan tool pointed to a potential sensor failure, but after replacing it, the issue persisted. Eventually, the workshop discovered that the ECU had been incorrectly programmed during a previous service. It's probably best to get it checked by a professional with the appropriate diagnostic scanner and software for Skoda. They can verify and correct the coding.

Took the Roomster to a specialist workshop. They verified the coding error. After recoding the car's control modules, the fault code is gone and the error messages have disappeared. Total cost was 360€.
