Skoda Roomster Brake Light Problem

I am experiencing a problem with the brake lights on my 2012 Skoda Roomster, diesel engine. An error is stored in the error memory, and the brake lights are not functioning. Additionally, I am receiving an error message in the infotainment system related to the brake lights. I suspect the brake switch is faulty. Is a switch replacement necessary?

The error message and tail light failure certainly suggest a brake switch issue. Is it possible something is obstructing the brake pedal's movement? Perhaps check for anything lodged near the pedal before considering switch replacement. It might be a simple fix, but I'm unsure without further inspection.

What do you mean by obstructing the brake pedal's movement? I visually inspected the area, and it appears clear. Are there any specific points I should be focusing on?

Given the error message and the tail light malfunction, a faulty brake switch seems plausible. However, these electrical issues can be tricky. A proper diagnosis would be best. It might be worth having a workshop take a look at it to confirm the source of the problem before proceeding with a switch replacement.

It turned out to be a simple case of user error. I had inadvertently knocked the brake pedal while working under the dashboard. Resetting the error memory resolved the issue. No switch replacement was needed, so the repair cost was 0€.
