Skoda Rapid Active Hood Fault and Airbag Warning

I'm getting desperate with my 2015 Skoda Rapid, diesel engine, with 239031 km on the clock. The on-board computer keeps displaying an "Active hood fault" message, and the airbag warning lamp is illuminated. I've scanned the error memory, and it confirms the active hood fault. What's even stranger is that the spring actuators have been triggered. I suspect it might be a defective acceleration sensor, impacting the crash detection system. Has anyone experienced this? This is worrying me as I consider car safety crucial.

I also own a Skoda Rapid, though I can’t recall the exact year. I experienced a similar issue with the 'Active hood fault' message and the airbag warning light. It's unsettling when car electronics act up. Did you check the hood latch? Sometimes a faulty latch can trigger such warnings.

Thanks for your reply! I did inspect the hood latch, and it seems to be functioning correctly. However, the spring actuators were triggered, which points to a more complex issue. Did you also have the triggered actuators, or just the warning lights? Any additional details would be helpful.

In my case, the spring actuators weren't triggered, it was just the warning lights and the error message. I remember reading somewhere that the acceleration sensor is a common culprit for these types of issues. Given that your actuators have been triggered, I'd strongly recommend taking it to a workshop. Messing with the hood system yourself could be risky.

The problem is resolved. It was the acceleration sensor, as suspected. The repair cost 315€, but at least the safety systems are working again. Thanks for the advice!
