Skoda Praktik rough running and IAT sensor issue

I'm at my wit's end with my 2009 Skoda Praktik with a gasoline engine. It's got about 79341 km on the clock, and the check engine light is mocking me constantly. I'm experiencing reduced engine power and rough engine running. I scanned the error memory and it shows a faulty intake air temperature sensor. I'm suspecting the IAT sensor itself. Has anyone dealt with this before? Any advice?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Praktik. Check engine light, rough running, the works. I'd put money on the intake air temperature reading being off. Have you scanned the error codes?

Yeah, I scanned the codes and it pointed to the intake air temperature sensor. Just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced similar issues. What exactly was happening with your air sensor? Was it completely dead, or just giving incorrect readings?

Mine was giving erratic readings. The ECU uses that intake air temperature to adjust the fuel mixture. If the air temperature reading is off, the mixture is wrong, and you get rough running and poor performance. If your scan tool is pointing to the IAT sensor, it's highly likely that's the culprit. Best to get it checked out by a workshop to be sure.

You were spot on! Took it to the workshop, and they confirmed it was the IAT sensor. New air temperature sensor installed, and the Praktik is running like a champ again. Cost me 155€, parts and labor included. Thanks a million for your help!
