Skoda Praktik immobilizer problem

Alright, so I've got a bit of a head-scratcher here. My 2010 Skoda Praktik, diesel engine, is refusing to start. Sometimes it'll fire up for a split second and then die. I had a look with a basic scan tool and it's throwing up an immobilizer problem. I suspect it's the key programming that's gone haywire. Any ideas? It's like the engine's being told 'no entry' by the anti-theft system.

Sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my Praktik. The security light was flashing, and the engine would only catch for a second before dying. Is the immobilizer bypass something you've looked into? Sometimes it's a simple fix.

The security light is indeed flashing, and the engine dies immediately. What do you mean by 'immobilizer bypass'? Is that something I can do myself, or does it require special tools?

By immobilizer bypass, I just meant checking the simple stuff first, like if the key is actually being recognized. It sounds like the key signal is the issue. Honestly, messing with immobilizers can be tricky, kind of like trying to rewire your house without knowing which wire does what. I would suggest getting it looked at by a professional. They can reprogram the key and properly diagnose any deeper issues with the immobilizer system.

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice. Took it to a workshop and they sorted it with a key programming for 45€. Seems the key signal was a bit off. Glad it wasn't anything more serious with the anti-theft system.
