Skoda Octavia Airbag Warning Light Issue

I have a problem with my 2008 Skoda Octavia with a gasoline engine. The airbag warning lamp in the speedometer lights up. I have read that it could be a defective cable or plug connection. The car has run 142872 km. I am concerned about car safety and proper airbag deployment in case of an accident. This is a very important automotive safety feature! Has anyone had a similar issue with the restraint system?

I also own a Skoda Octavia, though a slightly newer model. I encountered a similar problem with the airbag warning light. The issue was a faulty crash sensor connection. Have you checked the connections to the sensors?

Could you please tell me where the crash sensors are located in your Skoda? And also, how exactly did you check the connections? I'm not very experienced with car electrics, and I don't want to damage anything. I just want to check the cables and plugs. Maybe that's the reason why the airbag system failed.

The crash sensors are located behind the front bumper and under the seats. Given your lack of experience, I would advise against checking the connections yourself. Incorrect handling could lead to airbag deployment or further damage. It's better to visit a workshop and have them check the connections.

Thank you for the help. I went to the workshop, and it was a defective plug connection in the restraint system. They fixed the cable, and the airbag warning light is now off. The repair cost me 95€.
