Skoda Kodiaq Diesel Engine Issue

Right, I'm proper cheesed off. My 2023 Skoda Kodiaq diesel is playing up big time. Only done 82614 km, and now I've got reduced engine power, rough running, jerking when accelerating, a loud hissing when I put my foot down, and the fuel consumption has gone through the roof. Reckon it's the intake manifold flap control, yeah? Seems buggered. Anyone else had this?

Sounds like you've got an issue with your intake system. I had similar symptoms on my Kodiaq – reduced power, rough running, and a hissing noise under acceleration. The intake manifold flap actuator might be the culprit. Have you checked for any error codes related to the air intake or engine misfire?

Intake manifold flap actuator, eh? Is that a common failure on these? And how did you pinpoint that specifically? Any way to test it without pulling the whole damn thing apart?

Yes, it's not unheard of. The intake manifold flaps control the amount of air entering the engine at different RPMs, optimizing engine performance. When the actuator fails, the flaps might not open or close properly, hence the reduced power and rough running. The hissing sound could be air leaking past a poorly sealed flap. Best bet is to get it scanned at a workshop. They can usually diagnose it quickly with their diagnostic tools. A faulty switch is likely, but a proper diagnosis will confirm it.

Spot on! Took it to the workshop, and you nailed it. Intake manifold flap control was buggered. 465€ lighter, but she's purring again. Cheers for the help!
