Skoda Karoq ABS Light and Lateral Acceleration Sensor

Cornering felt a little unstable, now that you mention it. I haven't checked the yaw rate or wheel alignment myself. Is it possible that a bad wheel alignment could actually cause the lateral sensor to fail completely?

Yes, a bad wheel alignment won't directly fry the sensor, but it can definitely mess with the readings and trigger the error. However, since you're already getting a specific error code pointing to the lateral sensor, it's more likely that the sensor itself or the associated control unit is faulty. Given the symptoms and the error code, and that you're also feeling instability, it's best to get it checked by a workshop with the right diagnostic tools. They can confirm the sensor's functionality and rule out any wiring issues before replacing the entire control unit.

Thanks for the confirmation and advice. I took it to the workshop and, as suspected, the lateral acceleration sensor was faulty. They replaced the electronic control unit, did a wheel alignment, and everything is working perfectly now. Cost me around 1000€, but at least the ABS and traction control are back online.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Skoda Octavia. The ABS light kept coming on, and the error code pointed to the lateral sensor. Did you notice any changes in how the car handles, especially during cornering or emergency braking? Have you checked the yaw rate readings with an OBD scanner? Also, has your wheel alignment been checked recently? A misaligned wheel can sometimes trigger these sensors.
