Skoda Kamiq problems with the engine, engine indicator light keeps coming on

Hey everyone, my 2020 Skoda Kamiq (diesel, 105432 km) is worrying me. I have some symptoms: black smoke from the exhaust when accelerating, check engine light on, loss of power, exhaust leaking, strong exhaust smell. Could this be an exhaust aftertreatment malfunction? Have you had similar problems and what was your experience at the mechanic? Thank you very much!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2018 Skoda Karoq. My symptoms were pretty much the same: black smoke when accelerating, check engine light on, less power. It turned out that one of the lambda sensors was faulty. The mechanic replaced the defective lambda sensor and then everything was fine again. It's not a small thing, but it's not a big deal if you get it fixed in time. Hope this helps you! Regards

Hey, thanks for the answer! Do you happen to remember how much you paid to replace the lambda sensor? And have you experienced anything else since then? Best regards

Hey, no problem! Sure, I can remember. The exhaust aftertreatment malfunction was actually fixed after I went to see the mechanic. It wasn't exactly cheap, the cost was €375 to replace a defective lambda sensor. Since then, my Skoda Karoq has been running perfectly again, no more problems. I hope this helps you! If you have any further questions, just let me know. Regards

Hey, thanks for the info! I'll take my Skoda to the garage too and hopefully it's just the lambda sensor. 375 € is quite a lot, but if the problem is solved after that, I'll be happy. Let's see what the mechanic says. Thanks again for your help! Best regards

The engine light on my never came on. I stopped and ran out of oil. I topped it up. The light stays on
