Engine misfire on cold start, yes, exactly! The engine light is also on. Was it definitely the glow plugs in your case? How did you confirm?

Yep, glow plugs were the culprit. It's like trying to start a fire with damp wood; the engine combustion just isn't efficient enough when it's cold. I didn't confirm it myself, I took it to the workshop and they diagnosed it pretty quickly. Given the symptoms and the stored error, it's highly probable that's your issue too. I'd recommend getting them checked properly. Don't ignore it, prolonged engine misfire can't be good for the engine.

Glow plugs replaced. Cost me 440€. Engine starts perfectly now, even with the cold. Thanks for the confirmation, I wasn't looking forward to chasing ghosts.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Fabia, though it took me a while to figure it out. The preheating light stayed on, and I was getting intermittent engine misfire, particularly on cold start. Check engine light also illuminated eventually. It felt like the engine combustion wasn't quite right, like running on fewer cylinders. Have you noticed anything like that?
