Skoda Fabia Camshaft Sensor Problem

Alright, I'm officially stumped. My 2001 Skoda Fabia with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. It starts poorly, feels like it's lost a ton of power, and the error memory says the camshaft sensor is defective. I suspect it could be the cable or plug connection. Anyone seen this before? I'm getting worried about timing issues and rough idling.

Sounds like a camshaft sensor issue. I had something similar with my Fabia. Check engine light came on, and the car was running really rough. Have you checked the sensor's connection? Could be a loose or corroded plug.

Yeah, the check engine light is on. Where exactly is the camshaft sensor located? And how difficult is it to check the connection myself? I'm not super mechanically inclined, but I can handle basic stuff.

It's usually on the cylinder head, near the camshaft. Honestly, if you're not comfortable with automotive sensors, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. A faulty camshaft sensor can cause serious engine misfire and potential damage if not addressed properly. Better safe than sorry.

You were spot on, it was the camshaft sensor cable. A local workshop fixed it for 95€. Runs like new now. Thanks for the help!
