Skoda Fabia AdBlue Issue

My 2015 Skoda Fabia with a diesel engine is throwing a massive tantrum. The dashboard is screaming about an empty AdBlue tank, even though it's full. It's also throwing an error code and point-blank refuses to start. I'm guessing it's something to do with the emissions control system. I've been reading online that it could be the AdBlue output from the tank to the dosing unit being defective, but I'm no mechanic. Has anyone else experienced this diesel exhaust / fuel efficiency headache? This whole DEF fluid thing is a pain!

Whoa, that sounds familiar! Had a similar issue with my Skoda Fabia. Same symptoms - error message, wouldn't start, the whole shebang. Did you try checking the connections to the DEF fluid pump? Sometimes, it's just a loose wire.

Thanks for the quick reply! Checking the connections is a good shout, but where exactly is the DEF fluid pump located? Is it easy to get to, or will I need to take half the car apart? Also, did you need to replace the whole tank, or was it just a part that failed in your case?

Yeah, it's a pain to get to on the Fabia. Had to remove a bunch of trim. Honestly, unless you're super confident, I'd suggest getting a mechanic to check it. In my case, it was a faulty sensor within the tank, so they had to replace the whole unit. Sounds like you might have the same problem. If the error memory mentions the output specifically, it's probably more than just a connection. Good luck!

You were spot on! I took it to a workshop, and you nailed it - the AdBlue output from the tank was indeed faulty. They replaced it, and the dashboard alert is gone, the car starts fine now. I'm back on the road, and all in, it cost me around 250€. Thanks again for your help!
