Thanks for the detailed reply. I did a diagnostic scan, and it points to a fault in the lateral acceleration sensor circuit. You mentioned the wiring harness. Where exactly is that located, and is it something I can check myself without special tools?

Acknowledged. Given that the diagnostic scan implicates the lateral acceleration sensor circuit, and considering the symptoms you've described, it's highly probable that the affected control unit is indeed defective. The wiring harness typically runs from the sensor, which is often located beneath the driver's seat or near the center console, to the ABS electronic control module (ECU). While a visual inspection for obvious damage (frayed wires, corrosion) can be performed, diagnosing internal harness faults often requires specialized tools such as a multimeter and the relevant wiring diagrams. Considering the potential complexity and the involvement of safety-critical systems like ABS and traction control, I would recommend entrusting the diagnosis and repair to a qualified workshop. Replacing the control unit and ensuring proper calibration might be necessary to resolve the issue definitively.

Thanks for the input. Turns out the control unit was indeed faulty, as you suspected. Had to replace it, which set me back 1000€. At least the ABS and traction control are working again.

Good day. The symptoms you describe strongly suggest a problem with the lateral acceleration sensor or its associated circuitry. The fact that the ABS lamp is illuminated, coupled with the ABS system failure and the error code, is quite indicative. Have you by any chance performed a diagnostic scan to retrieve the specific error code? This would be helpful in pinpointing the precise nature of the fault. Additionally, it is worth investigating the wheel alignment. Incorrect wheel alignment can sometimes trigger spurious readings from the lateral acceleration sensor, leading to ABS and electronic stability system malfunctions. It is imperative to verify the integrity of the wiring harness connecting the sensor to the electronic control unit. Check for any signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections. I hope this helps.
