Seeking Advice: Grinding Noise in Gear Shift, Odd Engine Sound, and Error Code P1603 in 2015 Toyota Fortuner

I am driving a 2015 Toyota Fortuner with a manual gearbox and approximately 110,966 km on the odometer. I've recently noticed a grinding noise when shifting gears and an unusual noise from the engine. Additionally, I am getting an error code P1603. Has anyone else encountered these issues? I would appreciate any advice or suggestions on the possible causes and solutions for these problems. Thank you in advance!

Hello. The grinding noise likely points to clutch or gearbox issues (worn clutch, synchronizers, or low fluid). Unusual engine noise could stem from timing or accessory components. The error code P1603 indicates possible ECM, battery, or fuel system faults. Visit a trusted mechanic for a detailed diagnostic and address these concerns promptly.

The grinding noise when shifting gears could be due to a worn-out clutch or a problem with the gearbox, such as worn synchronizers or low transmission fluid. The unusual noise from the engine could be related to the timing belt or other accessory components. The error code P1603 is often associated with a problem in the Engine Control Module (ECM), battery, or fuel system. Given the potential complexity and variety of these issues, I would strongly recommend taking your car to a trusted mechanic for a thorough inspection and diagnosis. Please remember that ignoring these signs could lead to more serious, and potentially more expensive, problems down the line. After you've had your car inspected, could you please update us on the situation? Do you have any other questions or concerns?
