Seeking Advice on Diagnosis and Correction of Emissions Issues and Power Loss in 2016 Hyundai H1 Gasoline

Hey everybody, I've been wrestling with some headaches on my 2016 Hyundai H1 Gasoline. Recently, she's been spewing black smoke on acceleration, running rough with check engine light lit, jerking when I step on it, and guzzling gas like there's no tomorrow. On top of that, there's been a noticeable loss in power. My best guess is it might be a problem with the Lambda sensor. Has anyone faced similar issues? Could you share how you got it diagnosed and corrected at your workshop? Love to hear any advice or experience tackling this issue. Thanks a lot!

Hey there, As a car enthusiast with some experience messing around with motors, I've had a similar issue with my 2014 Hyundai iMax CRDi. Cry your eyes not exhaust issues like these aren't uncommon. In my case, I took my ride to my trusty ol' workshop. The engine light was a call to action for them. They hooked the car up to their diagnostic system and discovered it was indeed an Exhaust leak. The leak was apparently messing with the sensor readings, causing all the drama. Ended up having to shell out 265 Euro to press pause on the ongoing mechanical saga. However, it would be ace if you could share more specifics about your wagon like mileage, maintenance history, etc. It could help narrow down the possible culprits causing all the ruckus. Nonetheless, I'd advise you to head to a reputable garage to get your exhaust system thoroughly checked out. Hope this helps, and smooth sailing to ya!

Hiya, I genuinely appreciate the advice! My H1 has only run about 9685 KM since her last tune-up. She's been grumbling since the last 500 KM or so and it's been driving me up the wall. I've been meaning to take her to a good mechanic nearby, but I'm kinda entangled in work commitments. Now that you've pointed it out, I reckon it can't wait. Gonna make time and get that exhaust system examined pronto! Anyway, your tip’s golden. 265 Euro seem a small price to pay for some peace of mind, right? Here's to hoping my dear ride gets back to her old self soon. Fingers crossed! Thanks again for your help. Will keep updating on this. Cheers!

Hey again, Sounds like you're on the right track. It's good to hear you've got relatively low mileage since the last check-up, helps narrow things down a wee bit. Just remember, issues like these can sometimes be a symptom of other lurking gremlins in the engine, not necessarily just an exhaust leak. It could be anything from a faulty injector or mass airflow sensor to air leaks in the intake manifold, or a host of other things. But you're doing the right thing by taking her to a seasoned mechanic. They'll sort out whether it's a simple fix or a more in-depth repair needed. Keep us posted on the outcome and fee, will ya? Hope your lady settles down and gives you no more gyp. Good luck!

Hi again, Can't thank you enough for the head's up. You're right, the problem could be due to various reasons invisible to my layman eyes. Entrusting it to a seasoned mechanic makes sense. I swear, once I get the repair case closed, I'll remember to pass on the helpful tips to anyone else struggling with similar issues. Regardless of the cost, it's better to find the root of the problem before it escalates, eh? I'm on it right away and will surely keep you posted on the diagnosis and cost. Here's hoping I won't be spending an arm and a leg for this! Yup, fingers crossed no more headaches from my lady. Will share the updates soon. Thanks for the good wishes, cheers!
