Seeking Advice on Airbag Warning Light Issue in 2021 Dacia Duster (Gasoline)

Hey everyone, I'm having a tough time with my 2021 Dacia Duster (Gasoline). Noticed the airbag warning light is on and faults are stored. I'm thinking it might be an airbag system failure, but I'm not certain. Anyone ever run into this issue? Any idea about what could be causing it and how you got it resolved at the workshop? Appreciate any tips or similar experiences you can share.

Hey there, I'm no mechanic, just a regular Joe with minimal car know-how but I've dealt with a similar issue on my 2019 Dacia Sandero. Turned out it was a faulty sensor in the airbag system. My mechanic who runs a local workshop was able to diagnose it after a thorough inspection. Didn't cost me anything as it was a fairly simple reset involving the onboard diagnostics system. That being said, every situation is unique, and I can't say for sure if that's what happened with your Duster. Do you know what kind of error codes you're dealing with? That could seriously help to pinpoint the issue here. The model of your Dacia and the mileage might also play a big part in diagnosing your car's problem.

Hey, cheers for the reply! To answer your question, it's the B1002 code being displayed. Service is not due until 120,000 km, for now I'm at 117,092 km. I suspect it might be a similar situation with a faulty sensor in my Dacia Duster like what happened with your Sandero. Guess I'll have to take it down to the local workshop for a thorough check. Really appreciate your insight!

No problem, always happy to share what I know! That B1002 error code you mentioned has to do with the Airbag Electronic Controller Unit (ECU). This suggests there's a fault with communication in the system, which could indeed be triggered by a sensor issue like what I had with my Sandero. Given your mileage, it wouldn't be surprising if a sensor started giving you grief. Just try not to worry too much, these things can often be more alarming than dangerous. Taking it for a check at the workshop is unquestionably the best way forward - professionals will know far better what's going on. One more thing, when taking your Duster to the workshop, ask if they can reset the fault codes after they've diagnosed and fixed the issue. This should clear that bothersome airbag warning light. Keep us posted about how things work out. Best of luck!

Thanks a million! You've been super helpful, and I really do feel much better about the whole situation now. Just knowing what that B1002 code is all about has set my mind at ease a bit. Certainly, I'll make sure they reset the fault codes at the workshop when I bring my Duster in. I'll keep you in the loop about how it goes - fingers crossed it's just a sensor tweak like in your case. Stay well!
