Seeking Advice on 2021 Renault Arkana Hybrid Engine Issues: Persistent Oil Light and Metal Shavings in Oil

Hi all, I'm wrestling with some trouble on my 2021 Renault Arkana Hybrid engine. Noticing the Oil light stuck on, found metal shavings in oil, and there's this pesky warning light on the speedometer. I'm guessing it might be a wonky oil level sensor signal. Anyone else gone through something similar and can offer any advice? How did you get it sorted out at the repair shop? Any tips would be massively appreciated. Cheers!

Hey there! My 2019 Renault Kadjar had a similar issue not too long back. Just a dude with some experience with cars here, so take my word with a pinch of salt, alright? I had my own "Check Oil" light bothering me for days. Turned out the oil level sensor cable connection was on the fritz. I took my Kadjar to my regular workshop, they found the problem pretty fast. Had the cable connection fixed for around 165 euro. My advice is to get your Arkana checked out by a trusted technician soon. They'll tie down the exact issue. Now, could you tell me more about the oil type you're using and the car's mileage? Might be able to help you more with that info. Good luck!

Thanks for the insight! I've been using a synthetic blend 5W-30 motor oil since the last service. As for the mileage, it's at about 126713 km. Hoping it's just a cable connection issue like yours. Gonna ring up my regular repair shop first thing tomorrow and get it checked. Expecting to keep the wallet damage minimal. Cheers!

Hey, you're welcome! Your oil type sounds good for your Renault Arkana. The mileage suggests your car isn't new, so it's normal to encounter this kind of wear and tear. Keep in mind, though, if you found metal shavings in your oil, this might indicate a more serious engine issue, like an engine bearing or a transmission problem. It's a smart move to have it checked out pronto. In my case, the wallet hit was reasonable for a cable fix. But I remember shuddering at the thought of bearing replacement costs. Just hoping you don't have to go down that road. Good luck at the repair shop tomorrow. Please do circle back and update us on what they find. Fingers crossed for you!

You're not wrong about the potential engine issues. It's definitely a nerve-wracking possibility. I'm genuinely hoping it's just the oil level sensor cable problem like in your case. Guess I'll know for sure once I get it looked at tomorrow. Definitely will keep you posted on the outcome, fingers crossed it's nothing major. Appreciate the support, cheers!
