Seeking Advice on 2012 Nissan Juke's Transmission Issues and Possible Temp Sensor Problem

Hey guys, I've got a bit of a weird one with my 2012 Nissan Juke. Lately, it's been acting up - the transmission is slipping, I can hear a grinding noise when shifting gears, and there's a warning light on the speedo. I'm thinking the issue might be with the transmission oil temp sensor, but I'm not 100% sure. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, how did your mechanic pinpoint and resolve the problem? I'd appreciate any tips or advice you might have. Thanks!

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2010 Nissan Qashqai. I'm no car expert, but I have some hands-on experience. When I faced this issue, I took it to my regular workshop. They did some tests and it turned out to be that the transmission oil level was too low. Cost me a fair 365 Euro to get it sorted out. I suggest, however, to get yours checked as well. It could also be a sensor issue like you suspected. Could you specify if it's a manual or automatic transmission, and what the mileage is? This would help telling you more precisely what could be going wrong and any potential costs. Good luck!

Thanks for the quick response. My Juke is an automatic and it's got 152,959 kilometers on it. I keep up with regular maintenance so it's a tad bit odd that the oil level would be low, but who knows. I'll definitely get it checked out at my local garage and hopefully sort it out without burning a hole in my pocket. Thanks again for your input, every bit helps!

No worries at all! Trust me, these issues can crop up no matter how well you maintain your ride. Given your Juke is an automatic with that sort of mileage, it's possible that the transmission fluid is due for a change or there could be wear and tear in the transmission system. We're talking about seals, gaskets, lines - things that can age, crack, get leaks you know. And even if you're regularly topping up the fluid, if the fluid's just old and dirty, it doesn't help much. In worse scenario, there could be some internal issues with the transmission. The warning light could definitely indicate a faulty sensor. If it's the transmission oil temp sensor like you suggested, it can cause the transmission to operate at higher temps than it should, leading to slipping and grinding. Your local mechanic should be able to confirm the issue pretty quickly. Just get the transmission system thoroughly checked. If it's the sensor, consider getting an OEM part to replace it. It will cost you some, but it's an investment in your ride's longevity, right? Best of luck! Don't mind popping back here to let us know what happens? It might help the next guy with the same problem! Cheers.

You've given me a lot to think about. I'm fairly certain now that it's got something to do with the transmission fluid. Just hope it's something that can be easily sorted out. Either way, you're right, it's an investment for the car's longevity. And of course, I'll make sure to loop back here and update you guys once the issue gets resolved. Maybe someone in the future will benefit from it! Cheers for all your advice and support!
