Seeking Advice for Issues with Blower, Heating/Cooling, and Potentially Faulty Solar Sensor in 2018 VW Jetta

Hey all, my 2018 VW Jetta with a gasoline engine has been acting up. The blower's not really working as it should, and the heating/cooling isn't great either. I've also noticed a warning light on my speedometer. I think it might be related to a potentially faulty solar sensor. Has anyone else had this issue and, if so, how did you sort it out at the garage? Any advice or shared experiences would be super helpful. Thanks!

Hey there, I've got a touch of experience with this; I once had a similar issue with my 2016 VW Passat. Picked up some skills tinkering out of necessity! My dashboard was lit up too and after a visit to my local garage, we discovered it was the wiring harness that had gone off. It cost me about €155 to get it sorted out, but it was worth it. What engine type is your Jetta? And what other symptoms have you noticed? Maybe I could help you further with a bit more info! Cheers!

Hi! Thank you for getting back so quickly. My car's a 2018 Jetta with a gasoline engine. Apart from the faulty blower and unstable heating/cooling, I've noticed somewhat wonky fuel efficiency. It's just a bit less efficient than it was before, you know? Current mileage stands at 56,981 km and I serviced it last about 6 months ago. Maybe it's related? Any thoughts? Thanks a ton for your help!

Hey! I feel like we might be on to something here. When my Passat had similar symptoms, its fuel efficiency dropped a bit too. If the cooling/heating is unstable as you mentioned, it could be the thermostat behaving erratically, affecting engine performance and therefore fuel consumption. Equally, the warning light could be a good indicator of a sensor or wiring problem. Given your current mileage and the fact you serviced it not long ago, I’d suggest you rule out the obvious before taking it to a garage. Check all fluid levels (oil, coolant, etc.) and take a good look at all the hoses. If you're still seeing that warning light and your thermostat doesn't show fluctuating temperatures, there might be an issue with your car's wiring or its sensors. Remember, if messing around under your car’s hood isn’t your thing, better leave it to a professional. They'll have a look, run a diagnostic test and sort it out in no time! Good luck and let us know how it goes! Cheers!

Hey! Thanks again for the detailed advice. It's really helpful. Yup, definitely learnt my lesson from the one time I tried to play mechanic and things got messy! I'll do a quick check of my fluid levels and then I think I'll take it into my mechanic. I'd rather leave it to the pros than muck around under there. Will keep you posted on what they find and how it all goes. Cheers!
