Seeking advice for BMW X3 Diesel: Engine indicator light, poor engine performance

Hi, I can understand your concerns. I had similar symptoms with my 2010 BMW X5 diesel. Check engine light, lack of power and when accelerating there were misfires and black smoke. It was a serious case, everything pointed to a faulty intake manifold, which in the end had to do with the swirl flaps. Had to be taken to the garage and it was quite a task to fix it. Sure, I can still remember! So the repair of the defect on the swirl flaps cost 190 €, or to be more precise, there was a problem with the plug of the swirl flap actuator, pretty specific, right? But since the visit to the mechanic, my car has been running like clockwork, no juddering, no black smoke, everything is just tiptop! So yes, it's definitely worth visiting the mechanic.

Hello everyone, recently had a "problem" with the swirl flaps on my E91 320D. The problem was due to the fact that the intake manifold was very coked/sodden. According to the garage, this is because the exhaust gas regulation in newer diesel engines is very high, causing deposits to form in the intake manifold. This deposit had clogged the swirl flaps. The workshop then cleaned everything with a special tool and fitted a new intake manifold because it was already so dirty that it would no longer have been worth cleaning it. The engine is running again and feels like it has more power. I also try to drive more long distances so that less deposits build up.
