Scirocco Door Lock Sensor Failure After Prior Repair

My Scirocco door electronics are acting up, keyless entry completely stopped working and throwing an error code. Car details: 2017 VW Scirocco 2.0 TDI, 111845km. Previously had some questionable work done on the door actuator by a mechanic, now worried about potential repair costs and reliability. Has anyone dealt with similar locking system problems on their Scirocco? Looking for repair experiences and typical costs for door handle sensor issues.

Had a similar issue on my 2014 VW Golf 2.0 TDI. The door mechanism started acting up after hitting 95000km, showing identical symptoms with the keyless entry failing and error codes appearing. The root cause turned out to be a damaged wiring harness near the door actuator, where the cables flex when opening and closing the door. The constant movement had worn through the protective sleeve, causing intermittent connection issues with the door handle sensor. The repair involved replacing the complete door wiring harness and recalibrating the locking system. Since the previous work on your door actuator, there might be connection issues or improper installation causing similar symptoms. This is a known weak point in the door mechanism design. While not a critical safety concern, leaving it unrepaired can lead to complete failure of the central locking system and potential security risks. The repair requires specialized diagnostic equipment to properly calibrate the new components with the vehicle systems. Would recommend having it checked at a shop with VW certification, as generic repairs on these electronic door components often lead to recurring issues.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the wiring fault in your Golf. My electric door problem seems very similar, especially the intermittent connection symptoms. Getting it looked at this week since I dont want to risk the central locking failing completely. Did you remember roughly what you paid for the door wiring harness replacement and calibration? Also curious if youve had any other door switch or actuator issues since the repair was done?

It's been totally reliable since getting it fixed last month. The wiring fault near the door actuator was exactly what I suspected, turned out to be a loose connection in the cable harness where it flexes. The repair was actually simpler and cheaper than my initial harness replacement, coming in at 95€ to secure and repair the existing wiring. The electric door systems have worked flawlessly since the fix, no more error codes or keyless entry problems. The door switch and actuator were tested during the repair and found to be functioning normally. It was purely the wiring connection causing the intermittent faults. Really glad I got it sorted when I did rather than risking complete door electronics failure. The mechanic mentioned these connection issues are fairly common in the door mechanism, especially where the wires flex with door movement. Since youre describing similar symptoms, sounds like you might have the same underlying issue. Getting it checked early usually prevents more expensive repairs down the line.

After checking with my mechanic last week, turned out it was indeed a wiring issue near the door actuator. The repair was straightforward, they found worn wiring in the door mechanism that was causing the intermittent connection problems with the keyless entry system. Total cost came to 120€ for fixing the wiring and recalibrating the locking system. Much better than the 400€ quote I got for replacing the entire door electronics assembly. The mechanic showed me where the original wiring had been poorly repaired before, which explained the recurring problems. Been driving for a few days now and the door electronics are working perfectly, no more error codes or issues with the keyless entry. Really relieved it wasnt a bigger problem with the door actuator itself. Definitely worth getting it checked early before the whole locking system failed.
