RS6 GPS Navigation Dead, Antenna Troubleshooting Guide

Anyone else having navigation issues with their RS6? My 2013 RS6 (gas, 104602km) keeps showing a stored error and the car GPS is completely dead, no signal at all. Pretty sure its related to the GPS antenna but not keen on getting ripped off at the shop again. Would appreciate hearing from who dealt with similar GPS module problems and what the actual fix was, especially interested in typical repair costs.

Recently had a similar GPS module failure on my 2016 Audi S6. The satellite connection kept dropping and eventually failed completely. After running diagnostics, the issue was traced to a corroded GPS antenna connection under the rear window shelf. The antenna repair required partial headliner removal to access the connection point. The original GPS antenna had water damage from a small leak around the seal. The vehicle GPS system needed both a new antenna and GPS module since corrosion had spread to the connecting hardware. This is typically a serious repair requiring specialized knowledge of car electronics systems. DIY attempts often result in damaged headliners or incomplete fixes. The repair involves testing satellite connection strength, replacing faulty components, and recalibrating the navigation system. Main signs that point to GPS antenna failure: Complete loss of satellite signal, Error messages in navigation system, Intermittent position jumping, System unable to acquire initial signal The symptoms you describe match classic GPS antenna failure patterns. Would recommend having a certified tech diagnose the exact issue since antenna problems can sometimes indicate larger electrical system concerns.

Thanks for that detailed explanation. I recently faced the exact same issue with my 2013 RS6, complete navigation blackout and persistent error codes on the car GPS display. Had it checked at a shop and you were spot on about the antenna corrosion. The fix worked perfectly and the car navigation system is back to full functionality now. Been about 3 months with zero issues since the repair. Just wondering, can you remember roughly what you paid for the complete GPS module and antenna repair? Also, have you noticed any other electrical quirks popping up since then? My mechanic mentioned keeping an eye on the rest of the system.

Had the GPS antenna fixed at the shop about 6 months ago and paid 200 Euro for the complete repair. The satellite connection has been rock solid since then with zero navigation issues. The vehicle GPS system is working perfectly now, no more error messages or signal drops. After replacing both the GPS module and antenna, I havent noticed any other electrical problems. The navigation system maintains strong satellite connection even in areas where it used to struggle. The repair shop did a thorough check of surrounding electrical components while they had access to that area, which probably helped prevent any follow-up issues. The antenna repair was definitely worth the investment since the navigation system is such a crucial feature. Most shops should be able to properly diagnose and fix GPS antenna issues now, as its becoming a more common repair on these models. Just make sure they test the full satellite connection strength after the repair to confirm everything is working correctly.

Thanks for the input. Just got back from the shop today after the GPS module and antenna repair. Total bill came to 180 Euro which seems fair given what others paid. The mechanic showed me the old antenna, completely corroded from water damage that seeped in through a tiny crack. The car navigation is working perfectly now, getting strong satellite connection even in tough spots where it used to struggle. The signal interference issues are completely gone. Still keeping an eye on other electrical components as suggested, but so far everything seems stable. One tip from my experience, make sure to test the navigation thoroughly before leaving the shop. My mechanic had me drive around for 15 minutes to confirm the GPS was maintaining consistent satellite connection. Definitely worth the extra time to ensure the repair was done right. Feels good to have this sorted without getting overcharged. Thanks again for helping me understand what I was dealing with.
