RS4's Multiple Warning Signs Point to Critical Safety Issue

Looking for advice, my Audi RS4 (2019, 124289km) showing multiple warning signs that got me worried. ABS light came on, steering wheel shakes badly and feels much heavier than usual. The tire monitoring system shows low pressure, but I just had it at a mechanic last week and lost trust after a bad experience. Could these symptoms be just a simple case of low tire pressure, or is there something more serious going on? Has anyone dealt with similar issues on their RS4?

As an RS5 (2016) owner, I encountered nearly identical symptoms. The simultaneous tire pressure warning and ABS light typically indicates more than just low tire pressure. In my case, a faulty tire sensor valve was triggering false pressure loss readings, which then affected the ABS system. The heavy steering and vibration you describe matches what I experienced. The tire monitoring system was receiving erratic signals, causing the car's safety systems to activate unnecessarily. This required replacing the tire sensor valve and recalibrating the tire pressure monitoring system. While this might sound minor, its actually a serious safety concern since it affects multiple vehicle systems. The faulty sensor can mask real tire pressure issues and compromise ABS functionality. When my tire sensor failed, it also caused unnecessary strain on the power steering system as it tried to compensate for perceived traction issues. Since your RS4 has similar electronics architecture to my RS5, I suggest getting the tire sensors thoroughly checked. This is especially important given the high performance nature of RS models and their complex safety systems. Looking at your mileage, this is a common timeframe for tire sensor failures. Have a specialized Audi technician scan the tire monitoring system for accurate diagnosis rather than assuming its just low pressure.

Thanks for the detailed insight. Those symptoms do sound exactly like what I am experiencing with my RS4. The ABS light coming on together with the tire monitoring system acting up seems more than coincidental. Did you remember roughly how much the sensor valve replacement and recalibration cost? Also curious if you have had any recurring issues with the tire sensors or ABS system since getting it fixed? The shaking has gotten worse over the last few days and I am worried about driving with a potentially faulty tire sensor affecting multiple safety systems. Might need to get this looked at sooner rather than later.

Thanks for asking about the repair costs. Since having the faulty valve sensor replaced and the tire pressure monitoring system recalibrated, all issues have completely resolved. The tire pressure low warning stopped immediately, and the ABS warning light hasnt returned. The repair cost me 280 Euro total, including diagnostics and labor. The steering wheel shake and heavy steering disappeared right after the fix. If your symptoms are getting worse, definitely get it checked soon. A malfunctioning tire sensor can give false readings that confuse the safety systems. With these performance cars, its crucial to maintain proper tire pressure monitoring for optimal handling and safety. No recurring problems in my case, both the tire monitoring system and ABS have worked flawlessly since the repair. The immediate improvement confirmed the faulty valve was indeed the root cause. Given how similar your symptoms are, you might be looking at the same fix.

I appreciate everyones input here. Just wanted to share how this situation played out. After reading the responses, I took my RS4 to a different specialized workshop yesterday. The diagnosis confirmed a faulty tire sensor valve, exactly as suggested. The mechanic found the sensor was sending incorrect tire pressure readings to the cars computer, triggering the cascade of warning lights and steering issues. The repair cost came to 310 Euro, slightly more than expected but worth every cent. They replaced the defective sensor and recalibrated the entire tire monitoring system. The difference in driving feel was immediate, no more steering wheel shake, normal steering weight returned, and all warning lights cleared up. Really glad I didnt ignore these symptoms or just assume it was a simple tire pressure issue. Having proper tire pressure monitoring is crucial, especially in a performance car like this. Thanks for helping me avoid a potentially dangerous situation.
