Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! I was actually wondering about the total cost, do you remember what you ended up paying for the spiral cable replacement? And has everything been running smoothly since then? I'm dealing with the same issue on my Raider, and trying to get a sense of what I should expect to pay.

Hey there! Just wanted to follow up about the cost. I got it fixed last year at my regular mechanic, and it was 95€ to repair the faulty cable connection. Pretty reasonable, if you ask me! The cruise control has been working perfectly ever since, such a relief because I do a lot of highway driving. My mechanic did a great job finding and fixing the worn-out connection near the steering column. It's amazing how such a small thing can cause so much hassle, right? But yeah, since the repair, everything's been running super smooth. No warning lights, no glitches, cruise control works like a charm. If you're facing the same issue with your Raider, I'd say that's roughly what you should expect to pay, give or take a bit depending on your area. Hope this helps with your decision making! Let me know if you need any other info.

Thanks so much for the detailed info about the cost! That's actually not as bad as I was expecting. I bit the bullet and took my Raider to a local mechanic yesterday. Turns out it was exactly what you described, a worn cable connection. They charged me 110€ for the fix, which seems fair considering your experience. The whole thing took about 3 hours because they wanted to double-check all the connections. I really appreciate that they took the time to show me the damaged parts and explain everything. The mechanic was super honest and even cleaned up some other minor issues while they were at it. Just drove it home, and the cruise control is working perfectly again! Such a relief to have it fixed properly. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me make the decision to get it sorted out. Definitely won't be putting off these kinds of repairs in the future!

I had a similar issue with my 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander last year. The cruise control stopped working completely, and the warning light kept coming on. Turned out to be a faulty cable connection near the steering column, the wires had worn down from regular movement over time. Took it to my regular mechanic, and they found that the spiral cable assembly needed replacing. It's basically the connection between the steering wheel controls and the car's computer. Not a huge repair job, but definitely needed a professional because it's connected to other safety systems. My mechanic showed me the worn cables, and it made sense why the cruise control was acting up. They fixed it in about 2 hours, and I haven't had any issues since. It wasn't a serious problem, but it needed proper attention to avoid any potential issues with the airbag system, which uses the same cable assembly.
