Hey guys, I'm having problems with my Toyota Auris (built in 2016, diesel). Recently there is black smoke when accelerating and the check engine light indicates that something is wrong. There is also a noticeable loss of power and a strong smelling, loud exhaust. I suspect a defect in the diesel particulate filter, but I'm not sure. Hi, I'm not an expert in the automotive sector, but I have had similar experiences with my Toyota Yaris (built in 2014, diesel). The problem was also a defective diesel particulate filter (DPF internally defective). I took it to my garage as I have little experience with car repairs. They replaced the DPF and unfortunately it cost 1550 euros. It's like new again and runs perfectly. To give you more details, it would be helpful if you could tell me more about your vehicle, especially regarding mileage and last service. Hope this helps you!
